ABOUT THE FESTIVAL

The Perceptions Contemporary Dance Festival provides artists (emerging and established) with the opportunity to have their work fully produced. The festival is designed to support choreographers and companies around the country and internationally, providing the necessary technical aspects of staging professional work with minimal costs incurred. This festival provides artists with a state-of-the-art theater, expert technical crew, promotion and exposure, while creating the opportunity for growth and development by allowing each artist to focus solely on their art instead of the many details of self-production.

The inaugural festival was held in 2010 at the Manhattan Movement & Arts Center. The one night festival featured works by 10 artists/companies including work by Perceptions Dance Company.  Since, the festival has presented the works of nearly 40 national and international dance artists.

The goal for the Festival is to create more opportunity for artists to have their work produced in the most professional manner, creating more opportunity for growth and publicity. This Festival is designed to give artists several ways to be presented: through live performance, professional quality video for distribution and preservation, as well as marketing, advertisement and press.
